1. Students can ask and answer questions about important details in a text.
2. Students can retell familiar stories using important details from the story.
3. Students can tell who the characters are, where the setting takes place, and what happens in the story.
4. Students can ask and answer questions about new words in stories.
5. Students can tell the difference between the different kinds of fiction I read (e.g. storybooks, poems)
6. Students can tell who the author and illustrator are in stories AND can tell what their jobs are.
7. Students can tell how the words and pictures go together in stories.
8. Students can tell what is the same and different about the actions of characters in stories they know.
